Guelph’s Goldie Mill and Guelph Arboretum are the perfect backdrops for spring wedding photography. Jenn and Paul were married last May 9th but it easily could have been mistaken for a mid-summer’s wedding. The weather was 29 ºC and absolutely perfect. After preparing for their wedding , Jenn at her parents home and Paul at the home they share together, they were married at St. Joseph’s cathedral in Guelph. Jenn and Paul are an incredibly fun couple who love to laugh together. They are very blessed to have a beautiful little boy named Jack and he was the star of the show as he was the ring bearer for their wedding. Watching Paul’s face as Jack came down the aisle was a memory all on its own. After the ceremony the wedding party went to one of Guelph’s most beautifully historic sites, Goldie Mill. The history of Goldie Mill is quite interesting, at first a saw mill in 1827 it came to be the stone ruins we all know in 1867 after several fires burned the wooden structure down. Fire eventually took the mill as well but what remains is now an incredible historical structure and is owned by the Grand River Conservation Authority.
After a beautiful photography session at the mill, the wedding party drove to meet the family members at The Guelph Arboretum. The Trilliums were in full bloom and with the weather so warm, it was easy to stay outside all afternoon to take photos. There was not one black fly or mosquito to be found. You really can’t go wrong with choosing to have your wedding photos taken at The Arboretum, it’s natural environment offers an incredible backdrop. The Guelph Arboretum is part of the University of Guelph and it is a beautiful conserevation area open to the public.
Our final stop was the The Delta Guelph Hotel and Conference Centre for the beautiful reception and delicious dinner. The night was full of amazing speeches and a beautiful first dance between Jenn and Paul that had many in tears. The reception room was beautifully decorated and the wedding day was coordinated by Rebecca Wilson-McCracken, the owner of High Gloss Weddings in the Kitchener area. She did an amazing job!
